Resumen:

As the Steelhaven returns to Earth from Nebulos (following events in issue #42), Optimus Prime is recapping the story of the Cybertronian wars, but is interrupted when the ship passes a holographic advertisement. It is for the Cosmic Carnival, "The Greatest Show in the Galaxy." Part of the ad shows Sky Lynx, whom Goldbug recognizes, and so the Autobots decide to investigate.

They soon arrive at the carnival's space train, but only have enough energon to buy two tickets. Optimus Prime and Goldbug enter the carnival, and soon follow the crowds to a display of "alien freaks" -- the human children whom Grimlock had tossed out of the Ark previously (in issue #36). The children are under the supervision of a human named Berko; when they tell Optimus that they are held against their will, Berko takes them to the carnival's organizer, a tentacled slug-like alien called Mr. Big Top.

Mr. Big Top explains to the Autobots that Sky Lynx and the children are indebted to him; they are working in the carnival to work off their payments, and have signed leglly-binding contracts to that effect. He then gives out two passes to the carnival, which the Autobots reluctantly accept.

Later, the Autobots go to the Main Arena and watch Sky Lynx, "the metallic master of aerial acrobatics" perform for the crowd. Afterwards, Optimus Prime and Goldbug meet Sky Lynx, who explains that after they had fled from Grimlock and the Autobots, the children saw the ad for the carnival and demanded to visit it. Unfortunately, they didn't have any money for the admissions fee, and signed their contracts as a result. Berko agreed to see to the childrens' welfare, but ended up putting them in the side show.

Berko then enters the room, and pointedly tells Optimus Prime and Goldbug that they have to leave. The Autobots learn that Berko was an impoverished vagrant who joined the carnival years ago, and is reluctant to give it up. Optimus Prime offers to take him and the children away; surprised at the generousity, Berko agrees to help.

At Sky Lynx's next performance, Optimus Prime attends and helps him to escape midway through the show. They are stopped by the other performers, but easily overcome them. Meanwhile, Berko and Goldbug free the children, but are intercepted by Mr. Big Top. In the struggle that follows, Goldbug and Berko knock Mr. Big Top in the children's cage and lock him in. While the alien organizer becomes a side-show exhibit himself, the Autobots and the humans escape in the Steelhaven.
