Resumen:

Ages ago in the Alpha Centauri star system, the planet Cybertron was populated by sentient mechanoids called Autobots. It was a paradise until Megatron and the Decepticons started a war of conquest. The Autobots fought back, led by Optimus Prime, and the two factions warred for thousands of years. During that time, Cybertron was knocked out of its orbit and sent drifting through space.

Cybertron eventually headed towards an asteroid belt. Using a spaceship called the Ark, Optimus and a team of Autobots cleared a path for the planet. But after the mission was complete, the Decepticons attacked, and started to defeat the weakened Autobots. In desperation, Optimus sent the Ark on a suicide run toward a nearby planet. The Ark crashed into a volcanic mountain, and everyone on board was deactivated.

Four million years later (1984 AD), the volcano erupts, reawakening the Ark's computer. The Ark sends out a probe and finds numerous mechanical devices on the planet (Earth). Assuming these are the dominant life forms, the Ark revives and repairs the Autobots and Decepticons, giving them the ability to transform into "native" forms. After awakening, the Decepticons flee, and the Autobots begin to assess the situation.

Later, Prowl leads an Autobot reconnaissance team, which finds a drive-in theater. Mistaking the automobiles in the lot for native Earth forms, the Autobots enter the drive-in and attempt to converse with the "Earthlings." At that time, the Decepticons, who have been tracking the Autobots, suddenly attack. While the Autobots fight off the Decepticons, Bumblebee is wounded by an explosion and lost in the confusion. As the humans flee the battlefield, the Autobots realize that they are Earth's dominant life forms. Prowl quickly orders the Autobots to return to the Ark and report this new development.

Meanwhile, damaged in the attack, Bumblebee is found by Buster Witwicky, son of local auto mechanic William "Sparkplug" Witwicky. Buster drives Bumblebee home, where he tries to make repairs. When his dad enters the garage to investigate the noise, Bumblebee pleads with the humans for help...
