Resumen:
At the Decepticons' island base in the Florida Keys, Shockwave explains his plan to use Power Station Alpha to destroy the Earth: the station will be used to drill through key points in the Earth's crust. This will cause a series of tremors and reactions that will destroy the planet and turn it into a fireball. Alpha can then be placed into orbit to tap the ensuing energies and beam them to Cybertron.
The Cobra leadership then arrives at the base, bringing the station with them. As both parties scheme to double-cross each other, Dr. Mindbender is assigned as Cobra's emissary, and Dirge becomes the Decepticon's. Shockwave suggests that Cobra attack the Ark to retrieve a solar generator needed by Alpha, and the Cobras agree. Leaving Dr. Mindbender behind, they head for the Ark with Dirge following. The Baroness breaks away from the attack formation to attend to other business.
At G.I. Joe headquarters, G.B. Blackrock explains the Autobot-Decepticon conflict to the Joes Mainframe and Crank Case. They show him Bumblebee's remains, and consider that his mind might be salvagable. Meanwhile, as the Autobots finish their funeral for Optimus Prime, the operation to remove the cerebro-shell from Anthony Duranti begins.
In a Washington D.C. restaurant, Senator Barbara Larkin meets with the Baroness. As the Baroness cooly listens, Larkin declares Alpha to be a danger, and that she supported it only because it benefitted her own state. Unknown to her, the meeting is noted by a covert government agent; soon, a rival senator shows Hawk a photo of the meeting.
Anthony's operation ends successfully. Before the cerebro-shell is turned over to the government, a doctor prods it with a probe, causing involuntary transformations in Bombshell at the Decepticon base. While Dr. Mindbender watches the Decepticons work on Alpha, Cobra attacks the Ark, but is rebuffed by the Autobots.
Confronting Senator Larkin, Hawk ignores her explainations but fails to arrest her. He then gets a call from Mainframe and Crank Case, who've managed to reactivate Bumblebee's mind. Hawk sends a team of Joes to the Ark with this news.
At the Ark, Serpentor jams Dirge's frequency, creating an energy build-up that explodes him. He then ends the battle, approaching the Autobots to make a deal. However, the negotiations are interrupted by Dr. Mindbender -- the Decepticons have launched Space Station Alpha. Overhearing, the Autobots quickly agree to work with Cobra against the Decepticons.
At the same time, the Joes flying towards the Ark intercept the message, and realize that they, too, must work with Cobra to save the world...
Los eventos de este número tienen lugar entre el número 25 y el 27 de la serie regular de Transformers (comprendiendo el número 26). Megatron desaparece en el número 25 y Shockwave ha asumido la comandancia de los Decepticons, y el funeral de Optimus Prime se celebra en el número 26.
No está claro como el bloqueo que Serpentor produce sobre Dirge puede provocar su explosión. Tampoco se muestra que le sucede a Dirge después de que explote.
